How to achieve DIY fuller feathery brows that's affordable and pain-free?

Full and fluffy brows are the latest trend today! Those who over plucked their arches in the decades prior began growing back their natural shapes and intentionally fluffing out their eyebrows, paving the way for a fuller feathery look.

Have you heard of Brow Lamination or had this treatment done before? This new treatment, hailing from Europe and about to take the Australian beauty scene by storm, is like a lash life for your brows. Every hair stands to attention, giving a result very similar to the full and feathery effect of micro-blading or micro-feathering – lasting 4-6 weeks, minus the pain and downtime.

Well, with beauty salon restrictions still in place in Victoria, a lot of us will need to resort to DIY personal grooming, which may be a hassle and time consuming. Or even if beauty salons reopen, maybe you’re are not ready try brow lamination or micro-blading possibly due to fear of not knowing how it will look on you, maybe cost, pain or downtime (for micro-blading) is a factor… Then Posh Beauty Brow Feathering Wax is the perfect alternative for you! It is an easy way to achieve a fuller feathered look especially if you don’t have fluffy brows by nature. Great for creating a brow comb over to cover brow gaps too! You can create a quick and easy professional brow look with the Brow Feathering Wax kit that is inspired by the old Hollywood trick of setting brows with ‘soap’ (not your regular soap but a brow styling technique). Saving you precious time and money with minimal effort and precision required. This versatile brow styling kit can be used to create look from fluffy, feathered to groomed and sleek.

A must have for everyone’s make up bag, the Posh Beauty Brow Feathering Wax is perfect for shaping and taming brows keeping them in place all day long! This product is formulated with plant extracts and coconut oils that moisturise your brows, it’s non-sticky, fragrance free and colourless. Super versatile, as can be used alone or with your favourite full brow product! Check out more information and the Posh Beauty Feathering Wax is applied here.

How to remove eyelash extensions at home, without accidentally plucking your lashes out too.

The first rule of getting eyelash extensions is simple. Easier said than done, but do not pull them out.

Following this rule is hard enough at the best of times because once lash extensions start growing out, resisting the urge to touch them is near impossible.

But with beauty salons and sole traders closed under social distancing restrictions, we no longer have the option of getting lash extensions professionally re-filled or removed. And thus, the urge to pull, pick and pluck returns stronger than ever and you’ll end up with little to no real eyelashes left.

Thankfully, with some effort and patience to remove your lash extensions safely at home, it’s well worth it to save your natural lashes.

While you can technically use professional lash removal creams or glue dissolvers to get rid of your extensions, I personally wouldn’t advise using them because it burns like crazy if it gets in your eye.

The better option? Coconut oil.

Coconut oil is a simple way to remove eyelash extensions at home as the oil works to break down the lash glue without the risk of hurting your eyes. Here’s a step-by-step on how to remove lash extensions at home using coconut oil:

  1. This step is optional, but starting by giving your face a steam can help soften the lash extension glue. Pop a plug in your bathroom sink (or use a bowl/bucket if you don’t have a plug), fill it with boiling water, lean your face over the steam and cover the back of your head with a towel to stop steam escaping. Do this for around five to 10 minutes. Bonus points: steaming is also really great for your skin, and your sinuses if you add a bit of Vicks or eucalyptus oil to the water.
  2. Soak a cotton pad in coconut oil like you would with eye makeup remover or micellar water.
  3. Hold the cotton pad to your lashes for a few minutes and they should slide off.
  4. Don’t force stubborn lashes – continue with coconut oil over a few days.

Even if you use this method, there’s a chance you will lose a few of your natural lashes. It’s different to when a lash technician does it because they use professional tools and a magnifying glass to carefully remove each extension one at a time.

That said, it’s far better for your lashes than pulling your extensions out, which can cause trauma to your hair follicles. And a traumatised follicle may never grow a hair again.

Best Eyelash Serums To Grow Lashes

After removing your extensions, an eyelash serum can help to hydrate and nourish your hair follicles to grow back any lashes lost faster and longer.

Same goes if you accidentally pulled all your eyelashes out and have spent a decent 45 minutes crying in front of the mirror over your hairless eyelids, though it will get better soon. The best lash serum my clients and I’ve used is the EyEnvy Lash Growth Serum. You can only buy it directly from a stockist near you.

The trick to getting good results from an eyelash serum is to be consistent and patient. You should start seeing results after roughly three to four weeks of daily application along your lash line.

How To Use:

You apply it every morning before your skincare and makeup – put your face serum on, avoiding the eye area, then apply EyEnvy, then wait for both to sink in before moisturising.Think of it like putting on eyeliner – it’s clear so you can’t see it, but you want to apply the product at the roots of your lashes along the lash line.

The formula is quite runny, but the handy eyeliner-type brush that comes with the tube makes it easy to apply. A little goes a long way, too – don’t waste the precious serum going overboard, a single layer over your lash line once a day is all you need.

You won’t see results instantly, but trust me, be patient and keep consistently applying the product. Because lashes generally take three weeks to regenerate, you won’t see any results until the next lash cycle. Depending on your individual lashes, you’ll see a difference in the length and fullness of your lashes in around three to six weeks.

After the initial three months of use, I dropped off to applying the product once a week.

A 3.5ml tube, which will last you five months. Once opened, the active ingredients in EyEnvy are good for around nine months. So for me, EyEnvy is a worthwhile investment.
